Hello there bloggies!

Well there you have it the semifinals are set. The men have an all Swiss semi with Federer taking on Wawrinka and a matchup I think we all thought we would have seen more of by now Nadal and Dimitrov.

Both Nadal and Dimitrov looked brilliant in their wins over Raonic and Goffin, respectively. I for one thought they’d face stiffer tests in these matches, but once again in this Open I would be wrong. This could be Dimitrov’s big chance to get into a Slam final and possibly win one.

But the men’s semis are for a day, so let’s focus on our women’s semis which are filled with big hitting and amazing stories.

Venus Williams vs CoCo Vandeweghe

We have an all American matchup and Serena is not involved? Her older sister is though and boy did she play the big points well in her quarterfinal win over Pavs. Venus takes on CoCo who has simply blasted some of the best players in the world off the court. CoCo is not lacking in confidence and aiming to do the same to Venus.

The one X factor in this match is CoCo’s lack of experience in the end of slams. Will she start off nervous? Or get nervous when in a winning position? You know Venus is going to bring whatever she has and fight for every point. That’s why I’m going for Venus in straight sets.

Mirjana Lucic Baroni vs Serena Williams

There’s no better story than Lucic Baroni making the semis. And that’s a tough thing to do when Venus is making the semis. She has endured, persevered, and fought so hard. Tennis wise, she has hit the crap out of the ball and played fearlessly.

Unfortunately she is running into the best tennis player ever. Serena looked ridiculously good in taking out Konta in the last round. Konta had her chances in the first games but Serena slammed the door as she’s done for years. Lucic Baroni will need to go for everything to try to continue her run, but I think her weaker movement and speed will be exposed. And I just can’t bet against Serena in a big match in Australia. Serena in straight sets.

I can’t believe I’m predicting an all Williams sisters final. How 2008 of me!

Those are my tennis thoughts. What are you thinking for the women’s semis? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy tennis watching!
