Hello there bloggies!
Well here we are! Yesterday’s matches brought us to the the quarterfinals. And honestly, and for once, I really do think anyone could win these tourneys.
Here’s my reaction to what happened yesterday:
It’s just not time for Thiem. Dominic Thiem lost in 4 sets to David Goffin. Last year saw Thiem make his first slam semis and reach the top 10. He has future slam winner all over him. But he has hit a wall. All of the matches that are 50/50 are not going his way. Worn out physically and mentally? I definitely think the mental side. There’s a huge jump from top 10 to actual contender.
Oh my Konta. The player who has looked the best on the women’s side is Johanna Konta to me. She’s blasted Woz and Makarova. Now she’s set to take on Serena. Oh my goodness…CANT WAIT!!
Nadal and Raonic Quarter. Totally contrasting styles. Two of the most in form players on the men’s side. I can’t wait to see the power versus the intensity.
Best story = Lucic-Baroni. 19 years since her last win at the Aussie Open. Escaping her more than turbulent family situation. Sooooo amazing to see her do this so late in her career.
Those are my quick takes from yesterday’s action. What did you notice? Let me know in the comments below!
See you later!
