Hello there bloggies! Welcome to Fitness Friday!

As I mentioned with loads of pictures in this past Wishful Wednesday entry, I just came back from a big vacation to Sweden and Denmark. Now, you may be thinking: “What does a massive Scandinavian vacation have to do with fitness or nutrition?”

You would be totally correct! Vacation is usually a time of eating/drinking way more than usual and never exercising. It is a time of relaxation and gluttony. I enjoyed my adult beverages and far too many pastries. Honestly, a Danish wienerbrod and cardamom-based pastry are the best ever.

So why am I am going on and on about my trip to Denmark and Sweden?

Well, it is because I unexpectedly got completely inspired and re-motivated in the fitness department while visiting these lovely countries!

First, the number of people bicycling around the cities was staggering. The number of bicycles was easily greater than the number of cars. Bike lanes were everywhere, and you could even use city bikes to get around. Though, you did need to be very careful while crossing bike lanes and making sure that you didn’t wander into the bike lanes. “Bike rage” I think is a real thing!

Second, I swear but everytime we would walk around the city there would be oh so many people out running or jogging. It didn’t matter the time of day or even the weather. They would still be out there training hard. Seeing so many different sorts of people working toward their goals was incredibly refreshing. Fitness and health seem to be important aspects of everyday life for the Scandinavians.

Recently, I have been feeling a bit bored and unmotivated with my fitness. I had been mostly staying on track with my nutrition and exercise. But, I had been lacking that extra bit of desire that is oh so important to push yourself and reach new heights.

Seeing the constant biking and exercising of my Nordic hosts has strangely reinvigorated me. I’m excited again to get back into my fitness routines and see what sort of shape I can get myself into. It’s also inspired to start thinking of something new to get into. Maybe I should follow the Danes/Swedes lead and start cycling?

Thank you all for stopping by this edition of Fitness Friday! Have you ever been randomly inspired to commit or re-commit to your fitness/nutrition? What were they? Let me know below or on twitter @DrFsThoughts.
